  • 5 Milton children and teens will receive grief and bereavement support this year – Lighthouse Program for Grieving Children
  • Trained youth volunteers provided outreach to 1350 at risk or homeless youth in Milton last year
  • Homework Clubs are organized and operated in 4 Milton elementary schools – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton

Rainbow A rainbow springs from the helping hand, representing the hope of a better life possible through United Way - In these simple figures is the sum total of the United Way philosophy - to promote voluntarism and to support voluntary organizations in their efforts to provide a better life for us all.
Person The image in the center, based on the universal symbol of humankind, is cradled by the helping hand. It shows that all people are supported and uplifted by United Way efforts.
Helping hand At the bottom is a helping hand. The hand symbolizes the services and programs supported by United Way that in turn support the people in our community.

The first United Way was created in Denver, Colorado in 1887. There are 120 United Ways in Canada. United Way of Milton was incorporated in 1982. Each United Way is independent from the others and is governed by its own Board of Directors and has its own charitable number, bylaws, policies and procedures.
