United Way is committed to protecting your privacy. It protects your personal information and adheres to all legislative requirements with respect to privacy. UWM does not rent, sell or trade its mailing lists. The information you or your employer provides to UWM is used to help us in the campaign, to process and receipt your donation and respond to any of your information requests. UWM does not provide donor information to any third parties, except for the following:

  • As Required By Law - United Way may release personal information when it is necessary to comply with the law.
  • Direct Mail Donors - United Way maintains any information provided and will not share it with other organizations with one exception. Should you choose to designate part of your donation to a United Way affiliated agency or other registered charity, you can decide whether United Way can pass along your name and address to that agency or charity.
  • Direct Mail Leadership Donors - Leadership donors may be publicly recognized by United Way. If you prefer to remain anonymous, you must indicate this when making your donation, in the box provided for this purpose on the campaign brochure; and respond in writing to an annual request for permission from UWM to publish your name in the Annual General Report.
  • Workplace Donors - If you are a donor to a workplace campaign, whether online or via paper pledge form, your information is not shared with other organizations, unless a portion of your gift is directed to another United Way or another charity - see designations.
  • Workplace Leadership Donors - leadership donors may be publicly recognized by United Way. If you prefer to remain anonymous, please indicate this when making your pledge, in the box provided for this purpose.
  • Designations - where a portion of your gift is directed to another United Way or another charity. We provide the amount of your donation, your name and workplace to the recipient. If you do not wish this to occur, please indicate this in the appropriate section of your pledge form.
  • Donation Processing - in order to maintain cost effectiveness and continue to provide a high level of donor service, volunteers may do some processing of donation information on our behalf. These volunteers enter into confidentiality agreements and do not keep any donor information on file.
  • Removal - If at any time you wish to be removed from the UWM database, simply contact United Way of Milton at 905 875-2550.
