United Way understands people with special needs . . .

The Challenge: At some time in life, there may be a "someday" that seems too big to handle alone.

What we're doing about it:

Among the agencies that count on help from United Way are those who support people in need of:

• Home nursing and support
• Counselling/outreach for vision or hearing impairment
• Self-help and life skills, recreation and education while coping with mental illness
• Residential and recovery programs for alcohol and drug addiction
• Assistance to MS patients to maintain independence

Over 13% of people living in Ontario have a disability (Stats Canada, 2001).
