United Way is a registered charitable organization. A community of people with a common goal of caring. People, ‘just like you', are providing a hand up to those in need. Proud Moments | 1982 | United Way of Milton was founded. $37, 000 was raised to support 24 agencies. | | 1983 | United Way of Milton held its 1st Annual General Meeting. | | 1984 | Campaign Goal: $85,500 Achieved: $105,000 United Way of Milton was presented with the Community Organization of the Year Award “for outstanding service and community involvement” at the Milton Chamber of Commerce Annual Community Awards. | | 1985 | 88 cents of every dollar contributed was used to support the member agencies and their programs. | | 1987 | It was estimated that 1/3 of Miltonians used a United Way member agency this year. | | 1991 | “Make merry with United Way”—1st Annual Dinner and Auction ...“just as Robin Hood was committed to helping people in need, those who attend the United Way of Milton’s dinner and auction will be assisting others.” | | 1992 | 13,000 people benefited from the services funded by United Way of Milton. United Way of Milton celebrates its 10th Anniversary — over the past 10 years United Way of Milton has collectively raised $1.5 Million! | | 1994 | United Way of Milton was presented with the Civic Organization of the Year Award “in appreciation of your dedicated efforts in making Milton a healthy community” at the Milton Chamber of Commerce Annual Community Awards. | | 1998 | United Way of Milton replaced door to door campaigning with mailed letters and brochures to every home in Milton! | | 2002 | United Way of Milton celebrates its 20th Anniversary. | | 2004 | United Way of Milton launches an endowment fund – named THE LEGACY FUND. | | 2006 | United Way of Milton passed the “Half Million Mark”, raising $548,000. | | 2007 | United Way of Milton celebrates its 25th Anniversary with various events year-round. | | 2008 | United Way of Milton exceeds its 2007 campaign goal of $607,000, raising a total of $608,546. |
Over the past 25 years, United Way of Milton has grown from a handful of very enthusiastic and committed volunteers to an organization of strength and dedication. The United Way is an important and vital part of the growing community. Volunteers and staff will ensure that both current residents and newcomers will benefit from the services funded by donations to United Way.
