United Way of Milton Names New President Print E-mail
Paul Cripps is stepping up to take on the volunteer role of President of United Way of Milton's Board of Directors. The announcement came at United Way's recent Annual General Meeting, which also recognized the dedication of outgoing president Lesley Mansfield and campaign chair Wendy Schau, naming them both as Volunteers of the Year. Paul Cripps has been an active volunteer and United Way board member since 2007, most recently serving as Vice President. Paul was raised and went to school in Milton. His career took him to other cities along the way but six years ago, he returned to his hometown to take on responsibility as Director of Engineering Services for the Town of Milton. He is responsible for overseeing capital, operational and development elements of the Town's growth, roads and infrastructure.

"My involvement with United Way of Milton provides me with the opportunity to give back to the community where I was raised," Mr. Cripps explains. "Our Town is encountering tremendous challenges and opportunities related to the rapid community growth. In my role, I hope that I can make a difference for those Milton residents who need assistance. I strongly believe in the great work that United Way does every day in funding the work of our social service agencies."

Mr. Cripps is taking his new volunteer responsibilities seriously, having recently completed the McMaster Not-for-Profit Board Governance Workshop through the DeGroote School of Business. He and the new United Way Board of Directors will guide United Way of Milton as it continues to serve the needs of the community in supporting the work of 24 local agencies that help children, youth, families, seniors and those facing challenges in life.

Lesley Mansfield, past president and Wendy Schau, past campaign chair, were named as co-recipients of the 2009 Volunteer of the Year award. Together they helped United Way of Milton achieve its biggest-ever campaign donations of $641,829 through the 2009 campaign and were instrumental in broadening the awareness of the work of United Way.

"I want to thank Lesley and Wendy for their fantastic volunteer efforts," stated Paul Cripps. "They have both been great assets to United Way of Milton and have truly made a difference through their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication to the organization."
