Another success for United Way of Milton! The 3rd Annual Curling Bonspiel was a terrific day on and off the ice, raising over $20,000 for the community. Thanks to all those involved.
The United Way of Milton is pleased to announce that their third annual curling bonspiel raised a record breaking $20,100 at Saturday’s bonspiel, held at the Milton Curling Club.
“This was an outstanding achievement”, said Kate Sherwood, chair of the bonspiel organizing committee. “Our goal was to reach $20,000 and we exceeded this by $100 thanks to some generous last minute donations from our curlers . Many of our teams returned from last year, and we were also pleased to see the number of new curlers at the bonspiel. The collective energy from everyone really rocked the house on Saturday!”
Paul Cripps, United Way’s board president (and member of the committee) expressed his appreciation to the many companies who provided monetary assistance. “Our thanks to Union Gas, Mattamy Homes, Woodbine Entertainment, Dufferin Aggregates (a division of Holcim Inc.), Milton Hydro, Prosperity ONE Credit Union, P.W. Transit and TD Canada Trust for their sponsorship this year. There were also many other organizations who donated prizes for our silent auction and raffle. It was a group effort and we are thankful to everyone who came out and supported our event. I would also like to thank the organizing committee for their time and commitment to the United Way of Milton.”
All funds raised go towards the United Way of Milton’s 2011 campaign goal of $660,171. United Way of Milton supports 27 not for profit organizations and 43 programs, serving the Milton community. These programs develop happy, healthy children, mentor teens to reach their full potential, create strong families and safe neighbourhoods, sustain senior independence and help people rebuild their lives. |
